Summer Intensive Language Details

The African Studies Program is pleased to announce its Summer Intensive Language Program.
Program dates: June 18- August 3 2012

This intensive summer African languages program will allow students will earn course credit equivalent to one academic year of instruction. Classes will meet 5 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and are taught by native speakers of the respective languages.

Language Offerings

Below is a list of languages to be offered. Though we have capabilities to offer these languages for both the beginner and intermediate levels, the level to be  offered will depend on student interest. Please email githinji@ohio.edu to request your level.

• Swahili
• Wolof

Registration

Ohio University Students can register for the intensive language program through the normal way of registration.

NON-Ohio University Students will need to complete a NON-DEGREE application  in order to register for classes. The same tuition fees apply for NON-Ohio students as for Ohio students.

Transportation

Arriving in Athens
Ohio University is located in Athens, Ohio at the edge of the Hocking Hills. The nearest airport is Columbus International Airport in Columbus, Ohio. From Columbus you can rent a car or make arrangements with Athens Airport Shuttle to Athens. Athens is approximately 90 miles southeast of Columbus, Ohio on Route 33. You will be responsible for securing your own transportation to and from Athens. We recommend that you make reservations for a shuttle to Athens in advance.

Go Bus
The company runs buses twice daily from Columbus Airport to Athens. If possible, schedule your arrival in Columbus around the 2 departure time of the Go Bus. The ticket is $11.00

From Port Columbus Airport to Athens 
8:25 a.m and 2:25 p.m.

From Athens to Port Columbus Airport
10:45a.m. and 4:50 p.m.
